The bit of furniture that actually matters. Not the side table you spent three weeks agonising over, not the rug you're still not sure about. The sofa. The one that gets sat on, slept on, argued over, and loaded with cushions that'll probably end up on the floor by 9pm.

We make sofas for that kind of life. Velvet, fabric, bouclé, and faux leather, in everything from quiet oatmeal to the kind of deep olive green that makes a room feel like it has its act together. The teal velvet sits somewhere in between, bold without shouting about it. Two-seaters for smaller spaces, three-seaters for the Sunday sprawl, corner sofas for committing fully, and chaise options for anyone who's accepted that lying down is just superior sitting. Sofa beds if guests are a regular occurrence rather than a twice-a-year panic.

Ranges like the Dipley, Daphnis, Henrietta, and Lutyens each have their own character, because a sofa shouldn't look like it could belong to anyone. It should look like it belongs to you. Even if you did choose it partly because the cat would match.

Sofa Questions

Are daals sofas firm or soft?

Honestly, most lean firm, especially when new. Seat cushions in particular tend to feel more structured than sink in, and a few customers are surprised by this if they're coming from a plusher sofa.

The good news: most sofas do soften with use over the first few weeks and months. The back cushions tend to feel softer than the seats from the start.

If you want something immediately cloud like, it's worth noting that the Lutyens modular range has deeper cushioning and gets consistently strong comfort reviews. If you're a firm sofa person, you'll likely be very happy with the Daphnis or Obriel ranges from day one.

Will the colour look the same as the website photos?

Roughly, but not exactly, and with velvet especially, screen colour and real life colour can vary more than you'd expect. Velvet changes shade depending on the light and the pile direction, so what reads as deep olive on your monitor might look slightly different in your living room.

The honest answer: request fabric samples before ordering if colour accuracy matters to you. It's the only way to know for certain.

How long do the cushions hold their shape?

It varies by range and how heavily the sofa gets used. Some cushions, particularly in the modular ranges, benefit from regular plumping to maintain their shape, especially in the first year. Think of it like a new pillow: it needs breaking in, and a bit of daily reshaping is normal.

How hard is it to assemble our sofas?

Very easy, most sofas arrive with legs to attach and sections to click or bolt together, typically 15-30 minutes, often less. The modular ranges come in multiple boxes specifically so they fit through narrow doors and upstairs more easily. Assembly instructions are included and most customers manage alone.

The one thing to check: daals delivers to a ground floor communal area for flats without lifts, and won't carry boxes to upper floors. If you're in a flat, factor this in before ordering.

What's the difference between the sofa ranges?

Each range has its own character rather than just being the same sofa in different sizes. A few broad strokes:

Daphnis: compact, elegant, lower profile. Works well in smaller rooms or as a second sofa. Available in velvet, linen blend, and fabric. Firm seat.

Dipley: a bit more generous in depth and cushioning. Good allrounder for living rooms where you actually want to lounge.

Henrietta: mid century feel, upright, structured. Good for rooms where you want the sofa to make a statement rather than disappear into.

Lutyens: modular, so you can configure it to fit your space. Tends to get the strongest comfort reviews of the range.

Samples are available if you want to check fabric and colour before committing.
